Since the owner's manual states that tyre chains are not permitted on tyres of size 225/55 R 17, 245/45 R 18, 245/40 R 19 and 245/35 R 20, a market research for tyre socks was carried out in order to find the best solution.
Due to the ferrofil, which integrates metal wires into a two-ply fabric, thus providing a large number of additional gripping edges, Insignia Club members chose RUDmatic Soft Spike socks. The next step was the finding of a supplier with a competitive price and the placement of the order for all interested members.
A couple of days ago, I got my set and I have attached photos from the actual tyre socks. Since it is a bit early for having snow, no testing has been done yet, but initial impressions are very positive.
If you are though really keen in buying show chains, but not so sure if you should do so, RUD' s Centrax chains were tested on an Insignia equipped with 245/45 R18 tyres (Centrax Part No N 0892). Centrax is an automatic snow chain, which is incredibly fast and easy to fit. The verdict is that they do fit (there is more than enough clearance) and you can use them safely. Soon I will post relevant photos.
