SPY - 2012 Mercedes-Benz ML-Klasse

The future generation of the M-Klasse is a very important model for the Stuttgart-based manufacturer and that's why Mercedes-Benz takes its time for thoroughly develop it. First prototypes hit streets back in June 2009 and now, for the second time, the cars encounter the wintry conditions once again. The latest spy pics come from the picturesque Northern Scandinavia and show a disguised W 166 test model resting on snowy tarmac. When it's unveiled in mid-2011, the new ML will sport a rounder and more attractive exterior design judging by the beautifully-sculpted front and tail overhangs and the oval headlamps, which are prolonged towards the front wings. The back end of the new SUV will borrow its inspiration from the E-Klasse W 212 generation and will showcase very similar LED rear lights. The interior is hardly a surprise: hi-tech, fresh, sporty and a tad more appealing, elegant and luxurious than in the current ML. The forthcoming M-Klasse will make use of a entirely new lineup of efficient CDI, BLUETEC and CGI engines, comprising the latest BlueEFFICIENCY technologies, possibly a diesel hybrid version alongside the usual gas-powered ML 450 HYBRID and the range-topping 435 hp ML 500 variant. The high-end super model, the ML 63 AMG, will hide under its bonnet the new 5.5 liters twin-turbo unit, that should deliver around 570 hp.
