The all new Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Roadster: Undergoing FEP testing

Well in advance of the initial release time, a set of unofficial pictures showcasing the SLS AMG Roadster got leaked online moments ago. They showcase a near-production prototype with minor camouflage, that's subject to final experimental phase development. As previously revealed, the new open-top supercar from Affalterbach will feature conventional doors and rigorously reinforced body structure in order to withstand high torsion forces. To add up to the impressive roadster styling and keep overall weight at a low point, a three-layer fabric top available in several colours was preferred. Inside, customers will get the same wing-shaped architecture as in the Gullwing model. Further appointments include a new gear shifter for the AMG MCT transmission and an upgraded version of the COMAND system, most probably allowing internet access. Power comes from the already popular 6.2 litres naturally-ventilated V8 unit angled at 90 degrees, boasting a peak output of 571 hp/6800 rpm and a maximum torque of 650 Nm/4750 rpm. Performance figures will be very close to those reached by the SLS AMG Coupe - expect a top speed of around 310-315 km/h (instead of 317 km/h, due to extra weight) and a 0-100 km/h sprint in probably under 4 seconds. More exact, official information and images will be issued later today. In the mean time, check out the picture gallery after you hit the jump button!
