The first prototype of the future CLC 4-door coupe hit streets back in June and now it was caught again doing usual road testing. Internally dubbed C 117, the new model is part of the forthcoming avantgarde of compact models the German constructor will release in the next years. The underpinnings of the CLC will be shared with the A- and B-Klasse and will consist of the modular, front-driven MFA platform. At the start of sales programmed for 2013, the lineup of engines will comprise powerful BlueEFFICIENCY gasoline and diesel units, such as the M270 with 1.6 litres and 156 hp for the CLC 200 version and the OM651/D18 with 1.8 litres and 136 hp for the CLC 200 CDI version. Probably, high-end variants like the CLC 250 and CLC 250 CDI, both capable of delivering 204 hp of peak output, are also scheduled to arrive later the same year. In addition, AMG could also spice the compact 4-door coupe with the introduction of a hardcore CLC-Class boasting a newly-engineered 4x4 chassis and a potent 4-cylinder in-line supercharged engine with around 320 hp-350 hp co-developed with Hyprex. Returning to the standard-spec model, power transfer to the front wheels will be enabled thanks to the new 7G-DCT automatic gearbox or the new F-SG 310 6-speed manual transmission. The security package of the upcoming CLC will include first-in-class, state-of-the-art technologies: PRE-SAFE, ATTENTION ASSIST, Collision Prevention Assist, DISTRONIC PLUS, Blind Spot Assist, Speed Limit Assist and Lane Keeping Assist.
