Introduced officially at the end of 2000, this exquisite AMG variant of the iconic SL was presented as a special limited edition, an appropriate farewell to the R 129 series. The maximum output was sort of a record-breaker even in those years-525 BHP, whereas the high end torque available for the rear wheels reached the impressive level of 750 Nm. The maximum speed was electronically limited at 250 km/h, but AMG also offered its customers the possibility to buy the SL 73 AMG with no speed limiter.
