Mercedes-Benz is about to officially reveal a preview of the electric version of its SLS AMG in very short time. The SLS AMG E-CELL Prototype is one very attractive concept, set to become reality beginning with 2013.
The car is equipped with 4 electric motors(2 at the front, 2 at the rear, powering each wheel and practically converting the SLS into an all-wheel-drive model), which together deliver an impressive output of 526 BHP and ensure a peak output of 880 Nm, 100% available right from the touch of the gas pedal. Moreover, the rev counter indicates an almost unbelievable value for an "ordinary" street car - 12,000 rpm, while the '100 km/h checkpoint' is reached in just 4 seconds.
The SLS AMG E-CELL sports a redesigned front suspension architecture(independent multilink instead of double wishbone), in order to accommodate the motors and not alter the dynamic behaviour of the car. The battery, placed at the rear of the SLS AMG, boasts a high maximum load potential reaching 480 kW, thus also needing an enhanced cooling system.
This concept features full-LED headlights and a special exterior colour called "AMG lumilectric magno" and it stands on 19-inch front and 20-inch rear tyres. More official information, as well as high resolution images, will be released shortly.
