The first FEP test prototypes of the 2012 SLK-Klasse have finally appeared. Up to December 2010 or January 2011, this is what we'll see regarding the upcoming generation of the SL's little brother. Cars have lost pretty much of their initial heavy camouflage and, for the first time, we get the confirmation of the fact that Huckfeldt's/Larson's renderings were highly spot on (wonder why? :D). The new SLK-Klasse will borrow heavily from the new SLS AMG, in the same the outgoing model did with the SLR McLaren. The engine lineup will also include a diesel version, probably the SLK 250 CDI with 204 BHP of output, as well as petrol-running units, such as the SLK 350, making use of the modified 3.5 litres V6 BlueDIRECT powerplant, specially tweaked to deliver 354 BHP. The high-end model will be the SLK 55 AMG, which will be capable of delivering 422 BHP out of the 5.5 litres biturbo V8 motor. The new SLK-Klasse will probably be revealed at the forthcoming year's NAIAS in Detroit.
Note: Pictured in the images are the standard-spec and AMG Sports Package SLK models.
