The first day of the 2011 Monaco Grand Prix proved to be positive for VODAFONE MCLAREN MERCEDES. Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button, along with their personal engineers, delivered a consistent work on assessing the behaviour of the new Pirelli tyres. Moreover, ahead of the next stages, both drivers searched for the best portions of the circuit where they can deploy the KERS and DRS system in order to get a full advantage over their competitors and achieve top times. The team appreciates that the technical package of the MP4-26 is indeed very solid and competitive, but they are all careful with words and aware their direct contenders have also showed a strong performance - and that's the main reason why the battle for the pole position and victory is going to be very tough and demanding. After the two busy Thursday sessions, the results looked this: 5th and 2nd for Lewis and 6th and 4th for Jenson.
