Valeo Beep and Park system (kit No5): How the front sensors work

Following the successful installation of Valeo's Beep & Park system (earlier post), I was a bit confused with the way that the front sensors actually work. Also, the range of the front sensors appears to be 0.6 m, while the rear ones have a range of 1.6 m. Therefore, I emailed Valeo support and you can read below the replies I received.

"The Valeo Beep and Park Kit 5 is designed to only activate the front corner sensors (A and D) when you are conducting a reversing manoeuvre. This is because the front of the car swings out and can come into contact with an object if the available space is narrow. When you want the front sensors to work when driving forward into a space, reverse needs to be momentarily selected to switch on the front sensors. They will remain active for a number of seconds to allow you to complete your manoeuvre."

"The sensors have a range of up to 1.6 metres. The actual range can depend on a number of reasons, from sensor mounting height, mounting angle or height of the object. If paintable sensors have been used this can also affect range because when they are painted, the thickness of the paint cannot be assured to be the same."
