Mercedes-Benz is currently conducting a study among U.S.-based dealers and potential buyers in order to analyse how is the target public receiving a lineup of 3 new compact models, set to make their appearance as series cars in 2012.
What Mercedes-Benz does is showing to customers a set of design proposals for the 3 new versions:a coupe, a compact SUV and a sedan. These variants could spawn into new street models under the future A-/B-Klasse lineups beginning with 2012.
Bernhard Glaser, general manager of product development at Mercedes-Benz USA, is reported stating to Automotive News that "The first clinics have been done in the U.S. market. We are still at a very early stage. The design freeze has not taken place.". In conclusion, don't expect to see new Mercedes-Benz test prototypes for these models strolling on the roads too soon.
